Joint Implementation (JI) - Definition, glossary, details
JI is a mechanism under Kyoto protocol that allows developed
countries or companies in these countries to invest and cooperate in projects
related to reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and thereby share the emission
reduction units (ERU). The difference
between clean development mechanism and JI is that in case of JI no new
emission units are generated unlike the projects qualified under CDM. JI can be
viewed as an investment for ERUs swap.
