Global Environment Facility (GEF) - Definition, glossary, details

GEF is a jointly funded programme established by developed countries to meet their obligations mentioned in various international environment treaties. It serves as an interim financial arrangement to cover the cost of reporting by non-annex I countries. It also provides funds to complement the traditional development assistance by covering the additional costs incurred by the non-annex I countries towards development project targeting environmental benefits.
