Geological formation - Definition, glossary, details

A continuous underground formation with homogenous property to be considered as a single unit is geological formation. These formations with specific structure and porosity provide an opportunity to be used as a storage site. Examples of such formations include depleted oil and gas fields, unmineable coal seams, saline aquifers and shale formations.
